The Islamic symbol-Headscarf.

I am an all-time big fan of Freedom of Religious Practices. No matter where we live, what we do,we all have the right to fulfill our religious obligations.
I'm not a staunch Muslim, but i do try to practice a few basics here and there. My real problem isn't being an Islamic follower,it's how the west percieves Islam.
After 9/11,fingers were raised towards Muslims and the world turned its back towards anyone who gave a distinct impression of being an Islamic follower.
Oh well, years went by and all I heard were complaints about discrimination against Islam.Women who wore headscarves, including my mother, constantly reported that they were being mistreated at the American airports.
I didn't quite understand it then, but recently i started covering my head and faced hostility in my own country which, sadly,is an Islamic Republic.
Boys in my class bugged me about it,they thought it was a joke in this time and age, when women are choosing to be more liberal and fashionable.
My arguement remains the same: a headscarf doesn't limit you from fashion.Fashion is anything that suits you and you are comfortable in.I adore wearing designer tops and faded jeans, but all in my limits, all of it is decent clothing.Showing skin isn't fashion, sophistication and to carry yourself well makes you fashionable.
What's the point in showcasing ur body and allowing everyone to oggle at it?Without considering their own behaviour, women complain that men are misbehaved and they stare at you.Isn't it their own fault?
The very important point under discussion is not fashion, but the eyebrows that have been raised over headscarves. Why is it such a big deal if women cover their heads? Why do people in the west hesitate to talk to muslim women?
I hate the feeling of being pointed and laughed at when all I'm doing is practicing my religion.Am i right or is this behaviour justified?
